Unglazed pots are more suited to "earthy" looking trees such as conifers (pines junipers etc)These pots have the unique ability to allow the roots to "breath", which creates a more healthy enviroment for the tree.
There are many different colours of clay that are used to create different effects, from very light, to reds, to very strong browns, nearly black. Again matching bark colour to the pot, or even rough textured bark in a rough textured pot will give the most pleasing result.
